St. James Parish is the
Catholic parish of the village of
Medjugorje, in
Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Medjugorje went from unknown to virtually inescapable in 1981 when six children reported visions of the
Blessed Virgin Mary.
Currently, Medjugorje receives upwards of 200,000 pilgrims from all over the world every month. During the war in 1991-1995, international pilgrims still snuck across borders to come to
Medjugorje to worship in St. James Parish.
